Three Miles of Catching Up

So annoyed right now.

Don’t worry, it’s nothing major. Haha. Just the weather not co-operating with me. How dare Mother Nature interfere with my plans!

But in all seriousness I did have some plans to do some crafts/photography for the blog that required sunshine, so I’m in the process of shifting gears right now!

On a brighter note, last night I met up with one of my oldest friends to walk and catch up. It was 3 of the best miles I’ve spent in a long time. <3

Plus the view wasn’t too shabby either!

Isabella is expecting her first child, so we chatted about that, and lots of other things. Then we had a diner date at Chipotle, and I sure do love my Chipotle!

Last night I also wrote a guest post, so go check it out. <3

I got my hair done today, nothing fancy, same thing as usual. I’ll spare the photos. [Who am I kidding. You know they’ll be up tomorrow or something!]

Well, I’m off to do this craft. I have some things I want to make my Momma, and I leave here Thursday morning.

Love you guys! <3

Wine Glass Painting

Hidey-ho neighbors! [Did anyone else watch Home Improvement?! We were obsessed in my family.]

I have been busy at my little apartment, staying up all night [literally, I went to bed after 6 this morning.] playing my video game [beaten!] and doing crafty things. I actually have a couple of craft projects to blog about, but since they are a surprise for Shane when he gets home, they will have to wait until next week. <3

But this is one I really had so much fun doing! I got the idea from [what else] Pinterest, and I was like…. maybe I can do that?

Painting wine glasses!

Wine6

So I ran out and bought supplies, really only needed the glasses though, since I have so much acrylic paint lying around.

Wine

Here are the items I used:

+Sharpie oil based paint pens
+ Painters tape
+Paintbrushes (any to be used with acrylic paint should be fine)
+Acrylic craft paint (regular kind, except for the Martha Stewart chalkboard type on one project)
+Gloss Glaze
+Plain, washed wine glasses

Instructions are pretty simple, also.

+Wash and dry wine glass.

+Paint wine glass as desired. It will take a few coats of acrylic paint to stop looking streaky/see through. I started by painting the bottom of the glass, then painting the top portion last. Allow to completely dry.

+Paint a gloss glaze.

+Put on a tinfoil covered cookie sheet and place in a cool oven. *DO NOT PREHEAT BEFORE PUTTING GLASS IN* Set oven temp to 350* F and set timer for 20 minutes. (This includes time for the oven to preheat.)

+Turn the oven off and do not remove glass for another 10 minutes.

+Remove from oven and allow to fully cool before use.

Pretty simple, huh?

Here are the designs I came up with! [Or ‘borrowed’ from online shopping.]

Tree Branch

Wine2

This is by far my favorite. It’s really difficult to get a good photograph angle, but it’s so pretty. It also took the most time/work! I painted the bottom like stated above [under the glass] then used the black Sharpie paint pen to make the branches. This one I did NOT use a gloss glaze on.

Gators

Wine3

You knew this was coming, huh? Haha. This one was pretty straightforward. Paint, gloss, done.

Halloween

Wine4

My spiderwebs again! I sure do love to draw these. Definitely the easiest one to make.

Chalkboard Name

Wine5

This one I found online and made a replica of [since I’d rather make it myself than buy it], and I used painter’s tape to portion off about 1/3 of the stem, and painted chalkboard paint on the TOP of the stem and bottom of the glass. Then used a white Sharpie oil based pen to write my name. No gloss glaze.

I think I might make more of these since they are so pretty and classy and simple. I have an idea to make one for the name of every guest that visits us, so we can end up with a nice little collection, and a cute way to hold on to memories. <3

Hope you like them! I;’m making more, but these are just the ones I’ve finished so far. I’ll probably post more as I do them.

Well I’m off! Have a great day everyone!

Paint Chip Picture

I have been trying to decorate this apartment of mine and Shane’s, and while I’m trying to figure out themes and colors, the one thing I know I want is a blue/white kitchen. So, since it’s the only room I’m POSITIVE of how I want it to turn out, I started looking for DIY ideas.

Whew!! I was stalking Pinterest and was led to this lovely lady’s blog, where I found a craft I just had to try! And it worked perfectly with the blue/white theme I wanted!

Paintchip

A paintchip picture! I’ll let the lovely Carmie tell you guys how the paint chip part is done, just click here! I’ll show you how I did the frame, since that was all MOI!

I started with a wooden 5x7 frame bought from the Dollar Store, and some white acrylic paint.

Paintchip3

Pretty simple stuff here, painted the frame white! Two coats later I painted an acrylic gloss on top of the white, since I wanted a shiny look, not a matte look.

Paintchip2

Finally, I used some blue paper flowers and white glitter brads to make some flowers to add to the corner just for a splash of color on the simple frame.

I am so in love with this! I think it looks sweet and beachy and romantic.

Hurricane Irene Prep

Hey y’all! Well Shane and I are bunkering down, since we have a visitor coming, and her name is Irene.

Hopefully all will be well, but in the meantime I leave you with a picture of what y super thoughtful boyfriend brought home yesterday!

I sure do love flowers! <3

Hope everyone is safe, including us! We’re going to watch the latest Resident Evil in 3D now, while we still have power!

P.S. I registered for Pinterest. Any idea on how long it takes?! I already found some amazing things I want to try!!

Halloween Decorations: Part I

Hey y’all! I’ve been trying to figure out a way to keep my creative side busy (I left the majority of my scrapbook stuff in Florida), so I went to stalking the wonderful Jenn’s blog!

She has this wonderful craft involving upcycling glass with acrylic paint! I’ll let her explain the details and the how-to, and I’ll just show you my version! :)

[Obviously the candle was not my doing. But that scent is AAAAH-MAZING.]

Shane and I bought some cheap glass vases at Michaels and originally some purple acrylic paint. Unfortunately, the type of paint we bought was obviously meant for painting, and not pouring. So, we zipped back to Wal-Mart and found the cheap kind! (Good news is, I got 3 different colors for the price of 1 at Michaels!)

[Please excuse the fingernails…. I know it’s time for a re-do!]

Then I got out my Sharpie paint pens. (These little gems were EXPENSIVE, at least for me, but are freaking amazing!) I bought them at Michaels, and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen any. They are oil-based paints, and work wonderfully on glass! I googled how to draw spiderwebs since my drawing capabilities are like zero. And…… VOILA.

[A little Desperate Housewives action in the background. ]

I tried drawing pumkins on the orange… but I need more practice. Haha. So thanks Jenn for the amazing idea, and I think they turned out pretty freaking awesome. Shane loves them, too!

Now I’m off to do some laundry and stuff. By that I mean watch Desperate Housewives and check on the clothes when the machine sings to me. Yes. Instead of an annoying blaring noise when our clothes are done, our ridiculously overpriced-yet-gorgeous washer and dryer gives out a pleasant little jingle. :)
